MOVIE REVIEWS: No Country for Old Men & Burn After Reading

Both of these movies are Cohen-Bros. directed / influenced.  They both remind me of Academy Awards given to former movies with 'hanging endings' - you don't really know what happened to end the movie.

No Country for Old Men was quite a stretch of a tale.  As desolate a setting as can be found anywhere in the U.S., the Cohen's tried / intentionally made this movie last longer than it should have and made the viewer assume more than is reasonable for any movie, especially with the 'hanging ending'.  One Academy Award for this movie was one too many.

Burn After Reading is an advertiser's display of genius.  There's more hype to this movie than there is substance.  While the movie offers an intertwine of numerous subplots, it just doesn't deliver anything that resembles a primary plot.  And, like it's sibling above, a 'hanging ending' is unjustified.  I hope this one crash and 'Burn's at the AAs.  It doesn't deserve a nomination, let alone a mention.
